The Troops
Troop Types
Light Infantry | Swift foot troops, these troops make excellent marines |
Heavy Infantry | Rugged hill men, these troops could wrestle a bear and live to tell about it |
Pikemen | The bane of mounted troops, but not good against much else |
Archers | These yeomen are quick to fire and likely to hit what they aim for |
Crossbowmen | Not very swift or accurate, but they can drive a quarrel through plate armor |
Lancers | Speedy chargers carrying men with long lances |
Knights | Slow but powerful charges controlled by axe wielding knights |
Effects Of Terrain
- Light Infantry gain bonuses on ships and in the mountains
- Heavy Infantry gain bonuses while fighting on hills
- Pikemen are oblivious to terrain
- Archers receive a penalty in the woods but a bonus in the mountains
- Crossbowmen receive a penalty in the woods but a bonus in the mountains
- Lancers receive penalties in forests and mountains, but gain a bonus while on the open plains
- Knights receive penalties in forests and mountains, but gain a bonus while on the open plains
Note:
While on the sea, Lancers and Knights cannot ride their horses into battle. Therefore they fight as Light and Heavy Infantry respectively, but Lancers will not receive the bonus Light Infantry receive on the sea.
